How to Turn Your Bathroom into a Luxury Space

DEREK F BUCHANAN • Oct 05, 2020
Like any room in the house, a bathroom can be transformed from a boring utility space into something more extravagant. Whether you’re after a hotel or spa experience, or if you simply want to boost its overall appearance, there are many ways to turn your bathroom into a luxury space.

Focus on the Lighting

Lighting makes a huge difference to a bathroom space. To achieve one that oozes luxury, try to incorporate large mirrors that reflect the light and ensure that the mirrors are well lit on all sides to avoid any shadowy effects. To spice up the mood, items such as brass bulbs or shiny rectangular wall lamps can add a bit of glamour, while LED or crystal/chrome ceiling lights can add sparkle to the room.

Luxury Shower Room

Another way to spice up the deluxe feel of your bathroom is to install luxury en suite shower rooms. This can create a spa-like experience and has the added benefit of saving room since it removes the need for a bathtub. To get the most extravagance from your en suite shower room, opt for rain shower style shower heads and install large tiles for a dramatic look. Depending on the size of the space, you may want to select tall, sleek glass walls with chrome or black panelling. Or you may opt for no walls at all to create a more open feel.

Plant Displays

Displaying plants in the bathroom can also go a long way towards its luxury feel. Tropical plants in particular can create that hotel or spa-like experience. Large or small, try displaying a few varieties of plants around your bathroom to create a relaxing, opulent appearance.

Use Marble

If money is not an issue, marble tiles or fixtures will significantly boost the elegance of your bathroom. However, price doesn’t have to dissuade you, as there are plenty of marble accessories like soap holders, tumblers, or toothbrush holders that you can display instead. The simple appearance of marble on its own can enhance the bathroom’s sophistication.

Fancy Towels & Radiators

Towels and radiators are another way to add luxury to a space. Displaying expensive towels on a designer towel rack can go a long way towards creating an extravagant look on its own. For instance, there is a wide selection of designer radiators on the market that often look more like wall art than heating implements. When it comes to towels, choose high-quality Egyptian cotton and you and your guests will be able to wrap yourselves in lavish comfort.

Use Scents

Last, but not least, why not add a sprinkling of luscious scent? Essential oils, diffusers, scented soaps, and shampoos can help finish off the luxury feel of your bathroom. Try not to employ too many strong scents, though, as it may create the opposite effect! Aim instead for soft, subtle scents that make you feel relaxed.
